Center For Achievement, Retention And Student Success (Carss) Established Thanks To A $1 Million Grant From The National Science Foundation

Center for Achievement, Retention and Student Success (CARSS) established thanks to a $1 million grant from the National Science Foundation. The center's mission is to develop model programs in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), all areas experiencing dramatic shortfalls in the United States. The center's director is associate professor of organic chemistry Rabi Musah. The center specilaizes in tutoring and mentoring programs. The center is planning a "Family Summer Camp" for prospective University at Albany students from Albany High School. The center builds on the University's existing Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (C-STEP), the Project Excel program, and the Science Research in the High School Program.
