Educational Opportunity Program Grows

A demographic survey of the EOP shows its astonishing growth in the early years of the program from 162 students in 1968 to 620 only 2 years later, with a projection of 900 for 1971. In a breakdown of the EOP population at the time, 70% were Black, 20% were Puerto Rican and 10% were White. In regional terms, 50% were Upstaters and 50% were Downstaters.
