State Budget Cuts Hit University Programs Severely

The 1976 state budget is released, revealing the serious fiscal constraints the university will face in the upcoming year. In particular, funding for EOP and similar programs that offer higher education to the economically disadvantaged is reduced significantly, $3.6 million dollars in total. At the same time, a tuition increase for SUNY Albany is recommended by Governor Hugh Carey, in his determination to balance the state budget.
