Principal Samuel B. Woolworth Resigns

Principal Samuel B. Woolworth resigned effective Feb. 1 to become Secretary to the Board of Regents and a member of the Executive Committee of the Normal School. As a Secretary of the Regents, Woolworth would introduce the Regents Exams. Woolworth would serve as acting principal of the school in 1867 upon the resignation of Oliver Arey, becoming the first person to lead the institution twice.
