Kate Stoneman Graduates

Kate Stoneman graduated from the State Normal College. A prominent suffragist, she would later become the first woman lawyer in New York State in 1886. In 1880, she successfully lobbied the New York State legislature to allow women to elect local school boards. She taught penmanship at the State Normal College for many years and was the first women to earn a law degree from Albany Law School in 1898.
