Virgie's father was a captain on General Lee's staff. - [Aikey collection]; [1959?] Random House 214p movie and tv version, with dust jacket, of Dodd, Mead's 256pp version of uncertain date, c 1911, 1939 [original 1911 fiction form was published in 85pp. by Moffat, Yard (NY) in 1911, but the origin of all versions seems to have been the 1911 play; the movie itself was (loosely?) based on the play]; this is the Shirley Temple Edition, [dust jacket says 'the complete story with illustrations from her famous movie....the television showings of the Shirley Temple films have brought this story before a new generation']; the 1935 movie also starred the African-American actor/dancer Bill Robinson, who appears in the photos in this edition
