Calkins, is a continuation of The Student, a Family Magazine and Monthly School-reader (1849-53) and was itself continued by The Student and Schoolmaster; (1855-1872) [this history is discussed on the first page of the May 1854 issue]; this library copy, v9-10, has spine titles and rulings printed in black on one-quarter red leather, and front and back marbled boards with red leather corners
