The research reported here is concerned with the determinants of complex system control. It is part of a rather comprehensive project where subjects are studied while acting in an unfamiliar, dynamic task environment. In the following the research approach as well as some of the empirical results will be reported only briefly. The focus is on the description of a computer programme and its role in the research strategy.
