Thanks to a dedicated town street lighting crew, Hempstead is brighter and safer at night. Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) activist Gary Aue, a field supervisor for the town, oversees a crew of 12 workers who are responsible for maintaining nearly 50,000 lights ? enough to stretch from Long Island to Colorado if they were placed in a straight line.
