Contains speeches of Samuel Gould as president of Antioch College (1954-59), chancellor of University of California at Santa Barbara (1959-62), president of the Educational Broadcasting System (1962-64), chancellor of SUNY (1964-70), chancellor emeritus (1970), director at McKinsey and Company (1971), chairman of Commission on Non-Traditional Study (1971-72), president of Institute of Educational Development/Research and a number of addresses he gave as a private citizen. The main topics of the speeches were educational reform and university life. The speeches from Gould's tenure as president of Antioch College are bound together in one volume.

The Lawsuits sub-series includes Draft Environmental Impact Statements (DEIS), Final Environmental Impact Statements (FEIS), Freedom of Information Act requested material (mostly photocopies and faxes of developer proposals and developer, city, or town correspondence), and litigation papers such as Notice of Petitions, Affidavits, Briefs, Memorandum of Law, and Appeals Claims. Early Lawsuits may have the name Friends of the Pine Bush, the original unincorporated name of the organization.

Subject Files contain the day-to-day working files of the School of Social Welfare. Correspondence and memoranda, primarily from the dean at the time relating to various topics within the files, are interspersed throughout. Included among the materials are enrollment and admissions data, three and five year plans on the development and management of the school, publications, bulletins, commencement programs and speeches, grant proposals, committee membership and reports, and year-end reports from programs within the School of Social Welfare. Grant proposals include information relating to the proposed Social Work Research Development Center. School Bulletins range from 1965 through 1979. Materials relating to the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) include statistical reports and the involvement of Lynn Videcka-Sherman as a board member on the council. Also included are scrapbook materials containing newspaper clippings, information on alumni and student achievements, and a few photos, primarily taken of faculty members. General files from the Continuing Education Program (CEP) are included within this series as well. Please note that not all dates are inclusive.

This subseries consists of photocopies of newspaper and magazine clippings, legal documents, union publications, and other materials pertaining to issues and campaigns in which the SCCD was interested in and/or involved with. Some files document the SCCD's opposition to apartheid, human-rights abuses, and corporate farming. Others detail its support for labor disputes involving a host of unions including: Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union, Amalgamated Transit Union, American Federation of Grain Millers, Aluminum, Brick, and Glass Workers International Union, Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, Civil Service Employee Association, Communications Workers of America, International Association of Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Ironworkers, International Association of Machinists, International Federation of Flight Attendants, International Leather Goods, Plastic, and Novelty Workers Union, International Longshoremen's Association, Laundry and Dry Cleaners International Union, National Association of Broadcast Engineers and Technicians, Oil, Chemical, and Atomic Workers Unions, Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization, Service Employees International Union, United Auto Workers, United Farm Workers, United Food and Commercial Workers, United Mine Workers of America, United Paperworkers International Union, and United Steelworkers of America. Tanya Melich was director of the Election Research Unit for ABC News during the 1964 Republican National Convention. As a result, she accumulated numerous papers regarding the presidential primaries in New Hampshire and California, as well as the Republican National Convention and inaugural celebration. The series includes voting reports and analysis, general information on the convention, schedules, biographical information of candidates and platforms, committee meeting notes, and news clippings. The series begins with the New Hampshire primary in March, continues with the California and later primaries, the Republican National Convention in July, and ends with the inauguration of 1965.
