This series includes meeting minutes and agenda, including meeting notices, sign-in sheets for meetings, and notes.

The major items in this series are an unpublished essay by Miles on his years at HEW, published articles and other materials that resulted from his receiving the Rockefeller Public Service Award (1956), other published articles, speeches, materials concerning Miles' deputy James F. Kelly, items related to the polio vaccination campaign in the 1950s and a official trip to India in 1961, copies of correspondence and memoranda, photographs. This series also contains Miles' proposal for a reorganization of HEW (1965) as well as personal notes, and other letters, signed by Secretaries Hobby, Folsom, Fleming, Richardson and Under Secretary Nelson A. Rockefeller.

The majority of the documents in this series originated from meetings and activities conducted by the executive committee alone or in conjunction with the officers and members of the individual school branches. However, there is one folder of central school reports that preferably should have been filed in the specific series for those schools (ie. Buffalo organizing reports in the Buffalo series), but they are physically attached so that one school’s report ends and the next begins on the same page. Those few documents are therefore filed together in this series. Executive committee meetings seemed to be held at various locations around the state and it was not always clear whether material originated from executive action or steering committee action; therefore there may be executive material filed in the school series and vice versa. Other papers clearly belong either to GSEU school chapters or to the statewide executive committee and are filed accordingly. This series has many folders of meeting minutes and correspondence, but is supplemented by material on how to organize/mobilize, delegate assemblies, and steward information.

This series is arranged alphabetically.

The Citizens Budget Commission issues an annual report updating the fiscal status of New York City. These reports list the officers and trustees of the CBC and highlights from the previous year.

This series contains the autobiographical writings of Hans Speier and also includes transcripts of two interviews. Of particular interest are the typescripts of his published autobiography, From the Ashes of Disgrace: A Journal from Germany 1945-1955. The early versions of many of the typescript sections were taken from Speier's log notes for his trips to Germany for the Rand Corporation in the 1950s. (The complete log notes are located in Series 5: The Rand Corporation materials.).

This series documents many reports and publications relating to AIDS published by various organizations. Some of these organizations include the New York State Department of Health, Office of the Attorney General, and the New York African American Institute. Various newsletters and magazine, journals, and handbooks are also included.

This series contains two photographs, one of noted manager of Engineering Applications at General Electric Dr. Thomas O. Paine, the other unidentified. The news clippings contain numerous articles about Freedom Forum lecturers, including an excerpt from a book written by African American former Republican Senator Edward Brooke of Massachusetts.

Thsi series is made up of materials transferred by Theodore Jennings. It contains files from the Office of the Assistant to the President including correspondence with other institutions, adminstrative documents, as well as documents from various events the President attended.
