This subseries contains records from the many progressive or leftist political efforts which Michelle Crone was involved with in some way. Unlike the remainder of the Activism series, Michelle Crone may not have been directly involved in organizing these efforts.

This subseries contains the published writings of Ernest van den Haag arranged numerically by the number assigned each. This subseries represents the bulk of the collection and is one of the best sources for studying the philosophy of Ernest van den Haag. He wrote articles that cover a wide spectrum of political and social issues of his day. This subseries is unique in that it contains not only van den Haag's drafts, but in most cases the articles in their final published form, providing the researcher a glimpse of the contemporary context. These publications include drafts for books, reviews, chapters, and articles by van den Haag. The publications were assigned individual numbers probably reflecting the order of creation not the date of publication. The arrangement within each folder is as follows: the final published form of the article usually containing the periodical cover page, the contents page, and the article itself; correspondence, usually between van den Haag and the publisher, as well as any other related correspondence; rough drafts of the article, usually in order from oldest to newest; research material used in creation of the article as well as articles from other authors that represent debate over van den Haag's views and facts. Publication number 194 contains a letter from President Nixon thanking van den Haag for his balanced views on war crimes in Vietnam. Publication number 338 is an excellent example of the type of controversy surrounding some articles written by van den Haag. Publication number 439 contains a letter from Congressman Charles Rangel opposing Haag's views on the legalization of illegal drugs.

This subseries includes political literature, news clippings, correspondence and mass mailings, reports, press releases and other publications.

This subseries contains correspondence organized alphabetically by name. Bedau corresponded with colleagues from other universities and colleges, researchers, students whom Bedau was mentoring or assisting, advocacy organizations, and with publishers regarding involvement with various literary projects. Correspondence includes communication with many of Bedau's colleagues including: Anthony Amsterdam, William Bowers, Peggy Davis, Watt Espy, Gerald Gottlieb, David Kendall, Douglas Lyons, Philip Mackey, Michael Radelet, Marc Riedel, Victor Streib, Neil Vidmar, Marvin Wolfgang, and Franklyn Zimring.

The Nuremberg subseries includes the author's research material, manuscript drafts, correspondence, and promotion for each of the book's editions. Material related to the History Channel documentary Nuremberg: Tyranny on Trial and the TNT television miniseries Nuremberg is also included in this subseries. Note that material related to Persico's promotion of both TNT's Nuremberg and the reissued paperback edition of the book are included in the folder of promotional records for 2000-2001. The Writings subseries includes scripts for the History Channel documentaries "Piercing the Reich: The Deadly Deceivers" and "Nuremberg: Tyranny on Trial" in the "Documentaries, Narration" folder.

This subseries contains various material organized alphabetically by subject. Topics include capital punishment as a deterrent, race, innocence and wrongful convictions.

This subseries contains manuscript and typescript drafts, typescripts, notes, reprints, monographs, and a small amount of correspondence related to Studer's writing projects. Of interest are two typescript drafts of unpublished projects: Community Life and Woodland Story both of which are reflective pieces examining Studer's life and work at the Downtown Community School and Camp Woodland respectively. Please note that Studer published some Woodland Story chapters separately. For instance, "Folklore from a Valley that Died" (Chapter 9) was a standalone article in New York Folklore Quarterly in 1956. The standalone article "Yarns of a Catskill Woodsman" (Chapter 16) appeared in New York Folklore Quarterly in 1955. "Mike Todd's Story" (Chapter 11) later evolved into and was published as A Catskill Woodsman. A draft of Woodland Story's Chapter 17 entitled "Our Catskill Teachers" also appears as a section of a draft of Chapter 3. Therefore draft text is found in both files. This collection is missing later draft chapters of Woodland Story so there are gaps in the order.
