While Halpern was an unsuccessful Republican candidate for election to the Eighty-fourth Congress in 1954, he was elected to the Eighty-sixth and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1959-January 3, 1973). Halpern was not a candidate for reelection in 1972 to the Ninety-third Congress and he died on January 10, 1997. This collection contains records pertaining to Halpern's political career.
