This series contains materials on consent Decree compliance generated by state developmental centers. Many folders in Subseries 1 and four within Subseries 2 are restricted because they contain lists of Willowbrook clients and/or information about clients' medical conditions. These restricted folders are noted below in the box and folder list.
This series contains articles written by Tanya Melich as well as her master's thesis, "Youth Politics: A Study of Cliques Within the Association of New York State Young Republican Clubs, 1932-1959." There are copies of speeches she gave on various occasions. There is also information relating to Melich's editing work on an autobiography for Thomas E. Dewey. The materials relating to Dewey include two chapters of his autobiography, the transcript of a lengthy interview he conducted with reporter Harlan B. Phillips in 1957, some background research on Dewey conducted by Phillips, and chronologies.
This series features administrative records of Watt Espy's efforts to chronicle every government-sanctioned execution in the United States as part of his Capital Punishment Research Project. Espy was the only full-time employee of this organization although he worked with paid graduate assistants while at the University of Alabama School of Law.
