John H. E. Fried served as Legal Officer and Program Officer of the United Nations Technical Assistance Administration, headquartered in New York City, from 1951-1954. The series contains some correspondence, primarily concerning personnel matters, as well as memoranda and agreements dated 1948-1954.

Most of the materials in this series, which includes letters received by and copies of correspondence written by the president, concern routine organizational business. However, some of the letters shed light on the friendships that helped to sustain club women and the pleasures and frustrations of serving as an ESFWC officer.

The series consists of the contents of Manny Babbitt's cell at the time of his execution in May 1999, materials relating to his time in San Quentin, and documents about his Marine Corps service. This series contains Manny Babbitt's original works, including several poems. There also is an empty cardboard box which housed Manny Babbitt's personal items in his cell. Please note that the dates for the series are not inclusive and the bulk of files date from the 1990s.

Subject files include memorials, news clippings, plays presented, and press notices. There are memorials and tributes to some deceased members illustrating aspects of the social ties among the women, as well as news clippings about members and their families. Other news clippings illustrate the Club's relation to the community and the nature of long-lived literary clubs. News clippings are included in the folder that records the 1953 visit of twenty-three Club members to the United Nations to meet the first woman ever to be elected President of the General Assembly, Madam Vijaya Lakshmi Pandit, as well as a transcript of the interview they conducted with President Pandit.

In the summer of 1970, Alice Hasting sent inquiries to other universities asking for background materials documenting the "student unrest movement" on their respecitve campuses. This series contains the results she received including general information about unrest at colleges and universities across the United States. There also are folders devoted to the University at Buffalo, Columbia University, Yale University, the University of Chicago, the University of Michigan and the University of Wisconsin. The series contains correspondence, reports, newspapers and clippings.
