Helen Quirini joined the Schenectady YWCA in 1943 and later became one of its strongest advocates. She went on to serve on the board of directors and was elected president in 1979. This subseries contains materials illustrating the YWCA's day-to-day activities and its contributions to the community. The subseries consists of agendas, minutes, newsletters, magazines and flyers. It also features pamphlets on domestic violence, racism, feminism and equality as well as information on the YWCA-run battered women's shelter in Schenectady.

This series contains materials pertaining to the "Regesta Diplomatica" project, worked on by Fried while acting as a consultant for the Yivo Institute for Jewish Research.

Among Schaefer's most successful ventures via the ASRC was the Yellowstone Field Expeditions. In 1960, Schaefer met with National Park Service members in Wyoming's Grand Tetons to discuss the possibility of leading scientific studies in Yellowstone National Park. Specifically, he was interested in the behavior of supercooled clouds that form in the area of Old Faithful. Clouds and condensation nuclei were still a fascination of Schaefer's long after his G.E. days, and he foresaw many different kinds of scientists—including cloud physicists—gathering at Yellowstone once a year to devote themselves to conducting experiments, making observations, and comparing outcomes.

This sub-series contains articles primarily in English from Hula's years in the United States. The series also contains reviews written by Hula, in German and in English, 1924-1984.

This subseries contains manuscript and typescript drafts, typescripts, notes, reprints, monographs, and a small amount of correspondence related to Studer's writing projects. Of interest are two typescript drafts of unpublished projects: Community Life and Woodland Story both of which are reflective pieces examining Studer's life and work at the Downtown Community School and Camp Woodland respectively. Please note that Studer published some Woodland Story chapters separately. For instance, "Folklore from a Valley that Died" (Chapter 9) was a standalone article in New York Folklore Quarterly in 1956. The standalone article "Yarns of a Catskill Woodsman" (Chapter 16) appeared in New York Folklore Quarterly in 1955. "Mike Todd's Story" (Chapter 11) later evolved into and was published as A Catskill Woodsman. A draft of Woodland Story's Chapter 17 entitled "Our Catskill Teachers" also appears as a section of a draft of Chapter 3. Therefore draft text is found in both files. This collection is missing later draft chapters of Woodland Story so there are gaps in the order.

This sub-series contains publications and typescripts of articles in German on issues in labor, law, parliamentary reform and economics, written by Hula before his emigration to the United States.

The Writings by Rabinowitch files date primarily from the 1960s. The files are arranged alphabetically by title or subject and contain correspondence, editorial letters, lecture notes, speeches, book reviews, royalty statements, typescript drafts, biographies, reprints, galley proofs, radio broadcast script, journals, and clippings. The files relate to Rabinowitch's books such as The Atomic Age, The Dawn of a New Age, Minutes to Midnight, and Photosynthesis. There are also files concerning Rabinowitch's numerous articles in scientific journals on the subject of photosynthesis. There are notes for and copies of speeches delivered by Rabinowitch. There are also files concerning articles and editorials which Rabinowitch prepared for publication in the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. In addition there are files relating to works translated by Rabinowitch from English to German or from German to Russian.

The Writings by Others files date primarily from 1960 to 1971. The files are arranged alphabetically by author's, name and then by title. The files contain correspondence, drafts of manuscripts, reprints, pamphlets, and radio broadcasts. An attempt was made to include in this-part unpublished manuscripts or material that would not be readily available from other sources. The manuscripts include documents, which Rabinowitch may have collected because of his specific interest in science or international affairs. Or the manuscripts may have been sent to Rabinowitch by the authors for his review and comment. The writings cover a wide range of topics including nuclear energy, disarmament, population control, chemistry, international politics, and scientific education. Of special interest are the scripts of radio broadcasts entitled "The Fifth Horseman". Broadcast in 1946, this Series was designed to educate the American public about the atomic bomb and the results of its use.

The Writings subseries includes drafts, news clippings, correspondence, and other supporting material available for the non-book writings of Persico. Persico has published many articles on historical topics in publications such as American Heritage as well as book reviews and opinion ("op-ed") pieces for newspapers. A few folders of research material are also included in this series. Also included in this subseries is research material assembled for writing projects that did not result in a publication of a book and an unpublished manuscript for a novel, The Fornix. The "Documentaries, Narration" folder also includes scripts for the History Channel documentaries "Piercing the Reich: The Deadly Deceivers" and "Nuremberg: Tyranny on Trial".
