This collection documents the activities of the Albany Typographical Union, the first labor union founded in Albany, N.Y.

The minutes include correspondence, newspaper clippings, committee and convention reports, financial reports, and other material. The 1850-55 minute book ends with a copy of the local's constitution signed by each charter member. The 1892-97 minute book is partially burned, and many of the final pages of the book are water damaged, so it is possible that that 1855-74 minute book merely suffered greater damage and was subsequently discarded. The first few minute books are handwritten into bound volumes; however, by the 1890s many of the sheets are typewritten and glued into the volumes. This technique often reduces the legibility of the record. By the twentieth century, the volumes are bound from loose sheets of minutes, correspondence and other material, and the records are more difficult to use. From 1960, the minutes are filed loose in folders. The minutes from 1960s on contain increased documentation of financial activities.

Records from legal battles and restitution claims of Albert (Leser) Lestoque and his two siblings, for family properties in the Plittersdorf section of Bonn, Germany. Also contains manuscripts and published versions of Lestoque's writings, including the manuscripts from lecture engagements, and materials from organizations as Citizens for Victory, the International Committee for the Study of European Questions and the German American Writers' Association (GAWA).

The series consists of two main sections: family documents and records, and biographical materials and documents of Albert (Leser) Lestoque. The family documents consist primarily of documents pertaining to the family estate known as Auf'm Rech located in the Plittersdorf section of Bonn, Germany. The records consist of land purchase records of various pieces of property primarily in Bonn, as well as records of furniture and art purchases for the property in Plittersdorf. Additional records pertaining to the property, as well as documents and materials pertaining to other family members are found in the Paul Leser Papers.

The David Von Drehle Papers contain information on the death penalty, primarily in Florida. Von Drehle compiled the materials while researching his 1995 book Among the Lowest of the Dead: Inside Death Row.

The Alexander Semmler Papers contain music written by Alexander Semmler, both published and unpublished, as well as some of his notes and correspondence.

This series consists of works written by Alexander Semmler for symphony orchestra. The Symphony No. 3, dedicated to RIAS-Berlin, is the longest of these; the title on the full orchestral score is in English, and the parts and corrections are in German, with musical notations in Italian. The other works are all in English, with musical notations in Italian.

The collection contains copies of manuscripts of poetry, plays, and essays by Alfred Neumeyer as well as teaching notebooks of both Alfred and Eva Neumeyer.

The collection includes a diary, 1950; correspondence, 1942–1981; and manuscripts of books (including "Prussian Bureaucracy and National Socialism"), lectures, and reports, 1947–1959. As a civilian employee of the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1952, Oppler was the principal architect of legal and judicial reforms in occupied Japan.

This series contains materials that shed light upon Oppler's personal and professional life. Included are a photocopy of a book of poems authored by Oppler's father Leo, photographs, and photocopies of his published obituaries. Also included are a handful of materials documenting his daughter Ellen's career as an art historian.

Atmospheric researcher and oceanographer from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) and the University of Hawaii, Woodcock collaborated with Duncan Blanchard and the U.S. Navy on research such as Project Shower, atmospheric sea salt and volcanic mountain breathing.

Types of material include letters, carbon copies, journal articles, photographs and scientific research. Correspondence arranged chronologically pertaining to Woodcock's work aboard the research vessel Atlantis, 1930-1939, and work with the Navy on the smoke screens at sea project, 1944-45. Research into atmospheric sea salts and sea salt nuclei 1947-1986; Project Shower research into warm rain in Hawaii, 1954-1957; and Hawaiian cloud physics, 1952-1965. Also included is correspondence pertaining to Woodcock's study of Hawaiian rainfall, 1967-1972; atmospheric studies at the volcano Mauna Kea, 1965-1977; permafrost at Mauna Kea, 1969-1977; "mountain breathing" at Mauna Kea, 1976-1979; and Lake Waiau, 1965-1985. Correspondence dealing with Woodcock's research into sea salt, and studies of canal fog, 1979-1986. Other topics of correspondence include: physalia, 1944-1970; soaring gulls, 1937-1938; wave riding dolphins, 1946-1953; sargassum, 1947-1949; bursting bubbles, 1976; hail, 1976; Woodcock's research into his CIA file, 1977; hurricanes, 1985; slush and ice on lakes and ponds, 1987; rain droplet formation in clouds, 1990, study of Hawaiian trade winds, 1991; Woodcock's reception of the American Meteorological Society's lifetime achievement award, 1994; and budgetary matters. Correspondents include Columbus Iselin, director of the Atlantis research project, 1930-39, atmospheric scientist and meteorologist Duncan Blanchard, 1955-1995; U.S. Navy atmospheric scientist James Hughes, 1955-1984; chemist James Lodge, 1955-1965; meteorologist and atmospheric scientist E.G. "Taffy" Bowen 1955-1965; and atmospheric researcher Erik Erikkson, 1955-1965; oceanographer Robert Duce 1965-1977; researchers Jack Warner and Sean Twomey, 1969-1977; Charles Penn, 1981-1985; Irving Friedman, 1977-1979; Charles Knight, 1989-1991; as well as Vincent Schaefer, Allen Faller and Irving Friedman. The Alfred Werner Papers contain typescripts of his writings on artists and art topics, as well as a small amount of correspondence, student papers, notes and research materials used for his writing. Werner's main focus was on Jewish art and artists.

This series contains only a small amount of materials, but includes a short autobiographical sketch, written by Werner shortly after coming to the United States, as well as lexicon and other articles describing Werner's work as an art historian.
