State Senate Majority Leader Joseph L Bruno and University officials announced that Taconic, one of the largest laboratory rodent providers in the world, is building a 23,000 sq. ft. $13.2 million "Isolator Breeding Solutions Building" on the University's East Campus (now known as the Health Sciences Campus). Completion of the building is expected in the fall of 2007. Funding for the project will come from the University at Albany Foundation ($4.1 million), a New York State capital appropriation secured by State Senator Joseph Bruno ($1.9 million), Taconic ($9.1 million), and the Empire State Development Corporation ($175,000). Taconic was already the largest private tenant on this campus, occupying 41,603 square feet of space there.
