The retreats were begun in 1971 at the suggestion of former SUNY Chancellor Boyer to foster a common bond between public and independent colleges and universities. Subsequent to 1985 the retreats came to be known as President's Retreats. The series contains executive committee resolutions, correspondence, and reports from the Board of Regents, the Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities, the State Education Department, the American Council on Education. The contents focus upon particular issues in education: inter-institutional cooperation, 1971; political resolutions of education problems, 1972; student financial support, 1973; projecting college enrollments, 1974; the economics and politics of higher education management, 1975; what labor, government, and the community expect of higher education, 1976; resources for higher education, 1977; federal regulations, academic integrity, and public accountability, 1978; the state's stake in higher education, 1979; higher education and the New York economy, 1981; the role of the president in shaping the undergraduate curriculum, 1984; elevation of higher education among the state's priorities, 1986; connection of community service and college payment, 1989. The series also includes files on president's retreats.
This series includes miscellaneous speeches and other communications not immediately related to meetings found within the Conventions and Committees series. Other communications found in this series are Nelson Rockefeller's Addresses to the Legislature. Again, these did not occur during a specific meeting, but rather were sent to the various members of the legislature reporting on the progress of the Republican Party during the given year.
This series contains meeting minutes, reports, and subject files related to the Albany County Environmental Management Council and the related Four County Committee on Recycling (also called the Temporary Committee for Recycling for the Capital District Region.) The Council was formed in 1971 as an advisory body to the Albany County Commissioner of Health. Jackson Davis served as administrative assistant. The Four County Committee on Recycling, whose members represented the counties of Albany, Schenectady, Rennselaer, and Saratoga, was founded in 1972 to investigate the possibility of a recycling system proposal for the Capital District. The Council's primary focus was solid waste management and recycling. The series includes subject files with articles, publications, notes, and reports on these topics. There are also three research files on the environmental impact of oil refineries.
This series consists of records dating from 1990 to 2000. It includes files on Ed Bloch's Interfaith Impact/ New York State Council of Churches activities. The majority of the series contains records from conferences, articles, and meeting minutes from the Interfaith Alliance.
KAP was very concerned about the transport of radioactive waste. KAP formed an alliance with Nukewatch based in Wisconsin and the Snake River Alliance in Idaho to track the transport of spent reactor fuel from navy reactors at KAPL to INEL. Together they organized a network of waste tracking contacts located in each of the 10 states through which the waste traveled. This project is well documented and includes flyers, budget sheets, contacts, press coverage, and a diary of one particular train watcher.

The newsletters contain information about the activities and interests of CD-CAAR and events the organization sponsored. Many of the newsletters are in other parts of the CD-CAAR papers, although they are not represented there completely.
This series includes the variety of publications generated by Campus Action. These include the major publications of Campus Action, such as theCampus Action News newsletter, the Activist Directory, and the Alternative Internship Directory. In some cases these publications consist of the original master copies created for photocopying. When a final version of a publication was available, it was retained instead of these master copies. This series also includes numerous fliers, individual subject guides, conference materials, leaflets, and other handouts intended for campus distribution.
