This series consists of material generated in connection with the Correctional Association's statutory responsibility for inspecting jails, prisons, and adolescent detention facilities in New York State. Documents in this series were created by the Association's General Secretary, Institutions Visiting Committee, and other personnel and include correspondence, prison visit reports, prison tour requests, memoranda, affidavits, and other court records. Also included are records concerning Correctional Association President Adam McQuillan's 1977 visit to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. The only document from circa 1915 is a pamphlet describing a traveling exhibition concerning the New York State prison system.

This series contains drafts of Mellos various publications, correspondence concerning those publications, copies of newspaper and magazine articles by or about Michael Mello, and advertising and publicity related to his publications. Michael Mello published 6 books, as well as numerous book chapters, journal and newspaper articles, many of which covered similar topics and themes.

William Kennedy continued his writings about the Phelan family with Very Old Bones, his next installment in the "Albany Cycle" of novels published in 1992. This book is set in the 1950s in the city and narrated by Orson Purcell, the out-of-wedlock son of Peter Phelan. The majority of the series consists of manuscript drafts and edited copy, although there are a small number of files containing correspondence, publicity materials, articles and reviews, and excerpts of the novel published in magazines.

This series is divided into two sub-series: 1) typescripts of books written or edited by Speier; and 2) typescripts and manuscripts of shorter writings, including early stories and poems, and essayistic writings.

This series contains administrative records, such as memorandums and press releases. It also includes correspondence between Gould and Rockefeller.

Billy Aul donated much of the material in this series. It contains primarily leaflets, flyers and handouts from grassroots organizations promoting draft resistance and conscientious objection, economic conversion, and military tax resistance. As a draft counselor, Ms. Aul helped conscientious objectors obtain discharge from military service. There are several cases documented in Box 1. Some of these folders contain personal information and access is restricted. Please consult the Curator of Manuscripts for access. The collection contains papers from the Military Tax Resistance and Alternative Fund (MTRAF). According to the Statement of Purpose: The MTRAF represents conscientious objectors who refuse to support the military with their tax dollars. Alternatively, we wish to donate our combined, resisted tax monies to local, life-enriching activities (Box 4, Folder 15).

This series holds a number of artifacts, banners, handkerchiefs, videotapes, a framed painting, and framed embroidery. Artifacts include pins, posters, ornaments, a gavel, brass plates, and an imprinter with the Albany YWCA seal.

The Scrapbook series contains newspaper articles and photographs of the League of Women Voters.

This series holds papers related to the span of time that the Office of Diversity and Inclusion was known as the Affirmative Action Office. This includes a variety of office based materials such as internal memos, correspondence, articles and reports on harassment, periodicals published and written by the office, and meeting minutes. All relates to the Office's efforts to address racism, sexism, and general prejudice on campus. This series also includes materials related to Gloria DeSole, temporary Acting Director of the Office, before becoming Senior Advisor to the President for Affirmative Action and Employment Planning and still acting as head of The Affirmative Action Office. This included her work with the President's Task force on Women's Safety, Women's Concerns Committee, and the LGB Concerns Committee.
