Since its establishment in 1966 as the Urban League of the Albany N.Y. Area, the Urban League of Northeastern New York has campaigned for voter registration, housing, education, social services and other issues of concern to African Americans and others in the New York State Capital District.

The Subject Files contain annual reports (1967, 1974-1978, 1982-1984, 1985, 1987-1988), annual dinner program (1975, 1978, 1982), general correspondence (1981-1987), and the annual meeting minutes (1970, 1975, 1980-1984). They were maintained as a record of the daily operations of the Urban League of Northeastern New York and provides an overview of the various programs with which the organization was involved. The documentation for this series is most complete in the years 1984-1987. Information recorded during the 1970s can also be found intermittently within the series. Missing from the series is a charter or any other material relating to the origins of the Albany Urban League. Also incomplete are records in the form of annual reports.

The Versatile Club Records document the day-to-day operations of this community organization founded in 1910.

The Violet and Irwin F. Bender, Sr. Papers document the Pennsylvania couple's shortwave radio monitoring and subsequent correspondence about prisoners of war during World War II. The papers also contain correspondence about Axis Sally, an American radio broadcaster who was working for the Third Reich during the war and was later tried and convicted of treason in the United States.

The Walter Maria Kotschnig Papers, 1920-1984, focus on two major aspects of Kotschnig's life, his early career with the International Student Service, 1936-1944, and his diplomatic career with the United States Department of State and the United Nations, 1945-1971, in particular his representation on the United Nations Economic and Social Council.

The correspondence files contain circa 10,910 items of correspondence, arranged in four sub-series: correspondence with individuals connected with the International Student Service and related organizations; general correspondence files; correspondence concerning lecture engagements; Kotschnig's correspondence dating from his years of service with the U.S. Department of State and the United Nations.

This series dates predominately from the years 1933-1944, the years when Kotschnig was both on the faculties of Smith and Mt. Holyoke Colleges and also lecturing throughout the country. The lectures are mainly in the form of handwritten notes, with very few actual typewritten texts. Also in this series are course lecture notes from Kotschnig's courses at Smith, Mt. Holyoke and Harvard-Boston University Extension School, 1937-1944.

This collection contains the inactive records from campus radio station WCDB and its predecessor, WSUA. Materials include meeting minutes, policy documentation, financial records, internal and external correspondence and radio schedules.

The William Kennedy Papers document nearly a half century of research, writing, and publishing efforts of the internationally recognized, Pulitzer Prize winning author, playwright, essayist, journalist, script writer, professor, and champion of the arts. The collection consists of records related to all of Kennedy's fiction and nonfiction books through 2002, including his "Albany Cycle" of novels, film scripts, essays, and newspaper articles from the Albany . In addition, there is correspondence with other significant authors of American literature, biographical materials, and records documenting a trip to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland with President Bill Clinton.

This series documents the transition of Ironweed from the 1983 award-winning novel to film in 1987. Like the book, the movie focuses on the character of Francis Phelan and his return to Albany during the Depression. William Kennedy wrote the script for the film which was directed by Hector Babenco and starred Jack Nicholson and Meryl Streep. It was filmed on location in Albany and the surrounding areas. The materials include many draft and edited scripts, publicity materials, information about casting and locations, call sheets, correspondence, reviews, and two paperback copies of the novel with notes used for script writing. Note the overall dates for the series are not inclusive.

This series contains correspondence sent to William Kennedy from fellow authors, journalists, politicians, and members of the film industry. Most notably, the files document his relationships with other well-known writers of American literature, especially his decades-long friendships with mentor Saul Bellow and Hunter S. Thompson. Also included is correspondence with Philip Roth, Joyce Carol Oates, Frank McCourt, Doris Grumbach, John Updike, and more. Materials include letters, greeting cards, post cards, fax transmissions, e-mail and one Western Union mailgram. Nearly all of the other series also include correspondence related to the respective series.

The Woman's Club of Albany Records document the day-to-day operations of the first 100 years of this community organization founded in 1910.

This series contains scrapbooks and albums created by The Woman's Club of Albany. Books contain photographs, clippings, correspondence, newsletters, and other artifacts documenting events and activities at the Club. Initially members created a scrapbook every year.

This collection is made up of the published yearbooks of the New York State Normal College, the New York State College for Teachers, and the State University of New York at Albany.

The correspondence in this series consists almost exclusively of photocopies of Graf's letters to and from prominent individuals collected by Mrs. Graf after his death. (Letters of Gisela Graf which continue Graf's correspondence after his death are also included in this series.) Included is a small amount of correspondence with family members, as well as correspondence with: Johannes R. and Lilly Becher, Siegfried Bernfeld, Heinrich Böll, Hermann Broch, Ferdinand Bruckner, Albert Ehrenstein, Albert Einstein, Hans Magnus Enzensberger, Lion and Marta Feuchtwanger, Gustav and Else Fischer, Bruno Frank, Leonhard Frank, Günter Grass, Hugo Hartung, Th.
