The collection consists of inactive records from the University at Albany's Atmospheric Science Research Center.

This series includes autobiographical material and items from current biographical directories. Articles about Brown are from August 1962, January 1963, and August 1983. It also includes undated photographs. There are clippings concerning Lt. Col. Helen E. Brown, Anne Carroll Moore (obituary), Roaul Dufy, and Pierre Bonnard. Interview material (1964-82) is included as well as biographical information supplied by the processors.

A 1940 graduate of the New York State College for Teachers, Brown was a respected children's book writer and illustrator, and a three-time Caldecott Medal winner.

This series includes certificates from the Society of Illustrators, 1962; The Hans Christian Andersen Award, 1966 and 1976; the Arkansas Traveler, 1982; and from the English Speaking Union of the United State-Ambassador of Honor, 1984.

The Bernard Vonnegut Papers document Vonnegut's career as a researcher in the field of atmospheric science with a focus on his time at GE, Arthur Little, and the State University of New York at Albany. The collection includes technical memoranda, research, data, inventions and patent forms, equipment specifications, drawings, figures, handwritten notes, manuscripts, reports, correspondence, publicity materials, course materials, news clippings, photographs, memorabilia, and audio/video materials

This series consists primarily of tornado observations and eyewitness accounts solicited from the general public via newspaper advertisements in areas where tornadoes and severe storms frequently occur. They are filed using the original labeling system employed by Dr. Vonnegut, where the date and place of the observation as well as a brief statement on the phenomena is used to identify the observation. Accounts of severe storms found in multiple publications, biblical references, and other historical observations are also present.

Series 7 consists of Dr. Vonnegut's published and unpublished articles, letters to the editor, papers, reviews, reports, and book/encyclopedia chapters. Many files contain the research and data discussed within the work, as well as correspondence with the editor(s) of publications where work was submitted.

This collection contains materials related to the lives of Bill and Andy Spence, including folk and traditional music and materials documenting the Fox Hollow and Old Songs Festivals.

Folk music aficionados Bill and Andy Spence retained photographs, newspaper clippings, posters, schedules, flyers, and audio of the Fox Hollow Festival, of which they were involved in through their Capital District folk organization, Pick'n' and Sing'n' Gather'n' (PSG). The Beers family (Robert, Evelyne, and Martha) of Petersburgh, N.Y. held the Fox Hollow Festival on their family farm celebrating the traditions of folk music and arts every year from 1966 to 1980. The Festival consisted of multiple days packed with folk singing groups, workshops, art showings, activities, entertainment, dancing, games, speakers, crafts, and special guests with camping and other site accommodations upon request. This festival served as inspiration for the Old Songs Festival created in 1981 by Andy. The passing of Robert Beers in May 1972 signaled a shift for the Fox Hollow Festival, and Bill and Andy's last year of participation was 1973. PSG were involved as volunteers with the festival from 1966 to 1973, and Andy resigned from the Fox Hollow Board of Directors in September of that same year.

Bill Pelke is a leader in the national death penalty abolition movement. This collection documents Bill Pelke's involvement with Journey of Hope...from Violence to Healing, Murder Victims' Families for Reconciliation (MVFR), National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty (NCADP), Amnesty International, and other organizations committed to ending capital punishment in the United States.

This series contains records pertaining to various international, national, regional, state, and local activist organizations, non-profit groups, political parties, and religious organizations concerned with the death penalty and other activism related activities and events. The groups represented are primarily, but not exclusively, concerned with the abolition of the death penalty and prisoner rights. Included in this series are newsletters, correspondence, pamphlets, flyers, mass mailings, as well as a small amount of administrative material for organizations in which Bill Pelke himself was involved, such as the Indiana Coalition Against the Death Penalty (ICADP), the Northwest Indiana Coalition to the Abolish Control Unit Prisons, and the Northern Indiana Coalition Against the Death Penalty. Researchers should be aware that the bulk of this material consists of public outreach materials collected by Bill Pelke.

This series contains autobiographical and biographical materials, including documents, curriculum vitae, appointment books, membership cards and awards, as well as documents concerning Friedländer's position at the Deutsche Zentrale für freie Jugendwohlfahrt in Berlin, as well as later teaching appointments at the University of Chicago, University of California, Berkeley, and Michigan State University. Included in the early documents from Berlin are his dismissal papers from the Deutsche Zentrale für freie Jugendwohlfahrt in 1933, documentation of his years in Switzerland and France, 1933-1936, affidavits and letters of support in preparation for his immigration to the U.S. in 1937. Also included in this series are several autobiographical statements, which document the development of social welfare and social welfare education in Germany and the United States.

The Walter A. Friedländer (Friedlander) Papers consist of 45 archival boxes of materials, dating primarily from 1932 to 1984, with the bulk of material comprising Friedländer's voluminous correspondence (30 boxes). The collection also contains biographical materials, manuscripts and publications by Friedländer, as well as course materials and materials pertaining to national and international social welfare conferences, publications by other scholars, and materials collected by Friedländer on topics of interest, particularly social welfare topics.

This series contains some documents from Herz's early years in Düsseldorf, includes notebooks from his university courses in Freiburg im Breisgau, Berlin and Heidelberg, as well as documents from his years in Geneva, Switzerland (1935-1938). A large portion of this series is devoted to Herz's autobiographical writings, including travelogues, interviews of Herz by others, and several versions of his autobiography, published in German in 1984 as Vom Überleben. Wie mein Weltbild entstand, and the unpublished English version, On Human Survival.

The John H. Herz Papers consist of documents and autobiographical materials, professional and personal correspondence, copies of Herz's published and unpublished writings, texts of numerous speeches and lectures, teaching materials, as well as Herz's research collections on topics relating to his writings and lectures.

This series contains documents, several selections of diary entries, photographs and curriculum vita of Bates. The documents pertaining to Roy C. Bates (Kurt Bauchwitz) date from 1890 to 1974 with later documents pertaining to Barbara Bates (third wife), which date through 1995. Included in the collection are many early documents such as birth certificates, early school documents, marriage certificates from Bates/Bauchwitz' first two marriages in Germany, as well as university and military service documents. Also in the collection are a number of documents which record Bates/Bauchwitz' legal career as well as his subsequent dismissal from his post by the Hitler regime in 1938. His period of flight from Nazi Germany is also well-documented, as well as his early years in the U.S., including his naturalization as a U.S. citizen in 1946. Also included in this section are documents pertaining to his university studies in the U.S. at Columbia, St. John's and New York Universities. Completing the biographical section of this series are a number of curriculum vita, several biographical statements prepared for planned editions of Bates' poetry, as well as a number of photographs.

This collection documents the literary and legal careers of Roy C. Bates (Kurt Bauchwitz). The materials cover his early years in Germany (1890-1938), the years of flight from Hitler's Germany via Japan to the United States (1938-1941), and his U.S. years (1941-1974).

The correspondence files contain photographs, offprints and clippings in addition to the correspondence (ca. 5,000 letters), which dates primarily from Bates' U.S. years (1941-1974), although a few earlier letters are present in the collection. Several correspondences were continued after Bates' death in 1974 by his widow, Barbara, until as late as 1987. Letters are in German, English and French and have been divided into five sub-series: personal, legal, literary, mental health and drug research, and miscellaneous.

The collection consist of the Bridge Line Historical Society's newsletter, as well as original maps, drawings, and related material documenting the Delaware & Hudson Railway, a railroad that operated in the northeastern United States.

This series is comprised of maps, blueprints, and drawings that are related to the train stations affiliated with the Delaware and Hudson Line. Most of the maps within this series are reproductions.
