This series includes the rulebooks and manuals used by the NYRSC to regulate committee meetings and conventions. The Political Calendar of the Republican Party of New York are included in this series because they provide dates for filing primary petitions, conventions, registration for large and small cities and towns, and what color forms must be used to record these actions. The Political Calendar also supplies the percentage of votes one needs to nominate a candidate for a primary. These span from 1939 through 1963. The collection also includes the rulebooks for state and national conventions. These supply the delegate with the proper decorum for conduct in a convention, explain the functions of each position in the committee, explain the processes of electing and removing officials, and give regulations as to when a meeting must be called. The collection only has the 1976 version of the National Convention Rulebook. The collection also has a training manual for women county vice-chairs of the Republican Party, complete with a series of pamphlets on the subject of learning how to become a community leader, how to manage speakers, special interest groups, and large events, and how to build the Republican Party in one's neighborhood.
Despite his multifold interests, Link was first and foremost a teacher of social history. His long teaching career, which spanned nearly five decades, is illuminated by two subseries dealing with institutional correspondence and lecture notes.
This series contains documents generated in connection with Oppler's writing and editorial work for the Encyclopedia of Japan (Kodansha, 1980), among them Oppler's entries on the 1961 Sunakawa Case and the Japan-U.S. Security Treaties, an entry that he helped to content-edit, and an entry written by Kurt Steiner concerning Oppler's work in Japan. Also included are newsletters published by the staff of the Encyclopedia of Japan; the Spring 1979 issue contains a poem that Oppler wrote in praise of the project.
Includes a mailing list, minutes for NESASN meetings (1988-1989), correspondence (1989-1990), and funding information such as a Peace Development Fund grant application and a copy of a 1986 article from the Grassroots Fund-raising Journal (1986-1989). Also includes information on fund-raising campaigns, lists of potential congressional supporters for sanctions bills, and lists of companies for potential boycotts circa 1988-1989. The series is divided by subject. Issues include boycotts of companies operating in South Africa, fund-raising, and lobbying for support of bills in Congress that would impose sanctions on South Africa. The NESASN minutes are brief, mentioning topics discussed at meetings with little elaboration. Issues covered in the 1988-89 minutes include the Shell Oil Company boycott, a bill in Congress for sanctions towards South Africa, the sending of delegations to frontline countries in southern Africa, fund-raising for the organization, and building a network to fight apartheid. The correspondence file contains letters from the Capital District Coalition Against Apartheid and Racism, the New Jersey Anti-Apartheid Mobilization Coalition, the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom, and mailings from the NESASN.
