- S. Wentworth Horton was born in Greenport, NY on October 16, 1885. Horton was a Republican member of the New York State Senate (1st District, 1947-1956) and an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention from New York in 1948. Horton was a Presbyterian and a member of Phi Mu Alpha and Sigma Phi Epsilon. His collections contains records relating to his time in the New York State Senate.

- Scope and Content:
This collection consists of materials from WIlliam Hyman's service in the New York State Senate, including correspondence, legislation, research notes, and reports. Materials are from both his Albany and local district office.
- Biographical / Historical:
S. Wentworth Horton was born in Greenport, NY on October 16, 1885. Horton graduated from Greenport High School and went on to attend Syracuse University. Prior to entering politics Horton was a funeral director. Horton was a Republican member of the New York State Senate (1st District, 1947-1956) and an alternate delegate to the Republican National Convention from New York in 1948. Horton was a Presbyterian and a member of Phi Mu Alpha and Sigma Phi Epsilon. S. Wentworth Horton died on October 2, 1960 in the South Shore Convalescent Home in Patchouge, New York. Horton was buried at the Central Cemetery in Orient, Long Island and was survived by his wife and two children.

- The estate of S. Wentworth Horton donated his papers to Syracuse University in 1963. In 2006, materials were transferred to the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections and Archives.
