- Scope and Content:
This collection mainly consists of an artificial collection of news clippings, correspondence, flyers, and memos relating to student unrest at the University from 1969 to 1972. Also includes personal correspondence, 1969-72; materials concerning the first PhD degree granted by the University, 1974-76; course materials for Social Studies 1A and 1B; and dissertation proposals, 1965.
- Biographical / Historical:
Donald Liedel joined the State College for Teachers faculty in 1955 as Assistant Professor for Social Studies. He received a BA from Wayne State University and an MA from the University of Michigan where he had a research fellowship prior to his appointment. In 1969 he was appointed to the university's Advisory Committee for the Department of Afro-American Studies. Liedel collected information about the University at Albany's campus unrest as well as information about the University's Ph.D program.

- Materials were donated to the M.E. Grenander Department of Special Collections Archives, yet little acquisition documentation exists. The undated original accession record was last modified on September 11th 2006.
